We are looking for an experienced Senior DBA & Cloud Migration Engineer to manage advanced database environments and spearhead modernization and cloud migration projects. This position provides a chance to work with advanced technologies, enhance critical data systems, and facilitate transitions between on-premises and cloud infrastructures.Weekend on-call shifts may be occasionally required. Typically, one on-call duty per month, with a maximum of two occurrences.Please note that remote work is available only for candidates based in Ukraine.Responsibilities
  • Design and manage advanced SQL Server environments, including AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Failover Clusters
  • Oversee major version upgrades, migrations (On-Prem to Cloud and vice versa), patch management, and database consolidations
  • Configure HA/DR solutions, log shipping, replication, and backup plans for optimal efficiency
  • Analyze and enhance database performance using execution plans, DMVs, extended events, and index strategies
  • Establish and execute recovery strategies, troubleshooting failures during restoration efforts
  • Conduct capacity planning, provide growth projections, and propose scalability improvements
  • Enforce security measures including credential rotation, audit controls, and encryption practices
  • Assist development teams with schema adjustments, stored procedure efficiency, and data lifecycle management
  • Test and implement deployments, participate in CABs, and ensure smooth release rollouts
  • Build and maintain standards, documentation, best practices, and architectural diagrams
  • Automate tasks using PowerShell or Python while introducing cloud integration enhancements
  • Guide and train L2 DBAs, serving as the go-to expert for critical incident resolution
Requirements
  • 6+ years of comprehensive MS SQL Server DBA expertise
  • Strong understanding of SQL Server internals, storage engine mechanisms, and indexing patterns
  • Background in AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Failover Clusters, log shipping, and replication setups
  • Competency in performance optimization using execution plans, DMVs, indexing, and query refinement
  • Proficiency in backup configuration, recovery analysis, and addressing high-severity scenarios
  • Skills in T-SQL scripting and development, with experience in PowerShell scripting
  • Expertise in Windows Server operations and administration
  • Working knowledge of one or more RDBMS platforms, such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
  • Flexibility to manage production crisis calls and coordinate with global teams
  • B2 or higher English proficiency
Nice to have
  • Experience with platforms such as Azure SQL, Managed Instance, AWS RDS, or GCP Cloud SQL
  • Proficiency in Redgate tools, replication upgrades, and automation solutions
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes for database development
  • Understanding of security protocols like encryption, data masking, and audit measures
  • Microsoft certifications such as MCSE or DP-300
