Over 900 team members work across the county in various professional fields.About the jobThe ICRC Health Unit is seeking a highly capable Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Field Officer to join our team in Odesa. The MHPSS Field Officer (Psychologist) is responsible for the implementation of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support activities as defined in collaboration with his/her supervisor. In particular, providing the MHPSS Field Officer provides mental health and psychosocial support to victims of armed conflict and/or other situations of violence and/or trains, with a focus on families of people who went missing, and supervises and coaches others to do so.Start date: October 2025Your Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Develops, implements, and follows up on MHPSS activities at local and national level.
  • Implements MHPSS activities directly through individual consultations and group support meetings.
  • Creates and maintains direct links with MHPSS programme beneficiaries. Organizes referral and follows up of cases as required.
  • Sets up and uses culturally and context-appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools and ensures regular data collection.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with external stakeholders, according to the MHPSS strategy.
  • Translates and ensures context-appropriate material for training and clinical supervision.
  • Trains and supervises MHPSS staff from other organizations/partners/teams as per the programme strategy.
  • Maintains regular communication with his/her supervisor, providing data and programme updates.

For more information, visit the website .About youTo be successful as a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Field Officer in the Health Department, you should possess the following qualifications and experiences and have the following characteristics:
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or clinical psychology.
  • Master's degree in psychology and/or qualification in an evidence based psychological approach
  • License to practice with documentation confirming membership in a national association.
  • A minimum of 3 years of overall professional experience, preferably in international or local humanitarian organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience and strong expertise in delivering individual and group psychological / psychosocial support.
  • Excellent clinical assessment skills, including conducting risk assessments.
  • Experience in developing and conducting trainings and providing supervision in close coordination with partners and stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of psychological interventions at different levels, including clinical, psychosocial, and community-based approaches as well as practical understanding of their application in humanitarian contexts and within Ukraine's mental health system.
  • Strong ability to establish effective communication with stakeholders, including beneficiaries and operational partners.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing needs, contexts, and working environments.
  • Willingness to travel within southern Ukraine, including for several days at a time.
  • Understanding of Ukraine's current political, economic, social, and cultural dynamics.
  • Ukrainian citizenship or permanent residence permit in Ukraine.
  • Professional fluency (written and spoken) in English and Ukrainian.
