The Protection Officer will also provide immediate information and refer individuals with urgent needs to appropriate internal and external service providers. Additionally, they will conduct awareness-raising activities and training sessions for specific population groups, including digital literacy and other topics.
The Protection Officer will be based in Dnipro/ Mykolaiv/Kharkiv and conduct regular field visit trips.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Protection monitoring, collection of data and information using monitoring tools: HH level surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, field observation;
- Developing and submitting proposals for improving monitoring and data collection tools;
- Conducting information sessions/consultations on awareness raising or capacity building of the population on their rights and access to services in cooperation with Capacity Building and Program Development Officer;
- Support in organizing trainings/seminars/roundtables, etc;
- Regular updating of service mapping and contact list;
- Referral of individuals in need to relevant internal and external service providers in accordance with the procedures and principles of the program and IRC in general;
- Tracking referrals and updating the referral tracker;
- Providing rapid information services to the population affected by the conflict in Ukraine, collecting data on information needs by filling out a feedback tool;
- Visits to collective, transit, civil, volunteer and other centers or accommodation centers for IDPs, identification of protection issues at the community level, protection risk assessments, etc.;
- Preparation of summary information on the protection risks that affecting specific population groups for procurement planning;
- Organizing and conducting the distribution of humanitarian aid to the population, reporting on the activities;
- Providing paralegal assistance on issues such as obtaining IDP certificates, pensions, social matters, border crossing procedures, and others.
- Identifying topics that require the organization of awareness-raising activities.
- Organizing and conducting training sessions on identified topics, including raising digital literacy awareness among the population, the inclusion vocabulary, and others.
- Assisting in training and supporting volunteers (community coordination centers);
- Maintaining documentation, preparing weekly and irregular reports on work performed in accordance with IRC requirements;
- Performing other tasks related to the implementation of the PRoL program goals.Requirements:- Language skills: Ukrainian, Russian - fluent, English will be an advantage.
- Previous experience in social research, conducting surveys, interviews, and consulting;
- Experience in organizing group work, trainings, training events, working groups, mentoring, etc;
- Excellent communication skills - ability to demonstrate empathy;
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients;
- Positive and professional work attitude, including the ability to lead and work in a team;
- High level of flexibility, ability to organize work independently, meet deadlines, maintain self-control in stressful situations, prioritize work under pressure, ability to perform several tasks simultaneously, paying special attention to details.
